Diner Week Critique: Funk N’ Waffles (Syracuse, N.Y.)

Review | Written and photographed by Nathan Mattise

Elm Street Cafe - The sign by you. It’s not easy to resist the obvious puns when working with a entity like the Elm Street Cafe. If the cafe was more like other I-81 (or I-80) roadside diners, this page would be littered with Nightmare references and a Photoshopped image of Freddie Krueger making eggs.

A morning breakfast at the Elm Street Cafe demands better than that though… much better. Continue reading

Grilling tips, Trader Joe’s, text etiquette and National Chain Restaurant survey results

  • ESPN’s Bill Simmons recently prepped folks for the outdoor grilling season by podcasting with Adam Perry Lang. The grill savant talked about over/under rated meats and tips for the weekend warrior.
  • I discovered Trader Joe’s first during a summer in Albuquerque, N.M. but this weekend I heard of an NYC location. That makes this fansite even more valuable.
